ORDINANCE AMENDING MARION CITY CODE CHAPTER 159.01 COMPOSITION; QUALIFICATIONS FOR BOARD OF AIRPORT COMMISSIONERS, as amended

 

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Airport Commissioners has recommended modifications to the existing City Code, and

 

WHEREAS, the Council and Administration has given due consideration as to the recommended changes,

 

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of Marion, Marion County, Ohio:

 

Section 1.        The Council finds it necessary to modify the existing Code to update said provisions to be more consistent with current needs as to Airport operations and Airport over-sight and management.

 

Marion City Code 159.01 now reading as follows:

 

§ 159.01  COMPOSITION; QUALIFICATIONS.

 

       (A) For the purpose of assisting Council and the Director of Public Safety/Service, there is created a Board of Airport Commissioners which shall consist of ten persons, one of whom shall be a member of Council; one of whom shall be a person utilizing the Marion Municipal Airport for either private or personal business flying; one of whom shall be a person employed or associated with a fixed base operator at the Marion Municipal Airport; one of whom shall be a person employed or associated with a non‑fixed base operator at the Marion Municipal Airport; one of whom shall be a person employed or associated with a company or association utilizing the Marion Municipal Airport with nonbased equipment; one of whom shall be a member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce; and one of whom shall be associated with agriculture and farming; one of whom shall be a person who resides within two miles of Airport; and one of whom shall be a person who is a member of the Airport Zoning Board or Airport Board of Zoning Appeals; and one of whom shall be the President of Central Ohio Soaring Association at Marion Municipal Airport or one of his/her designees.  ('70 Code, § 159.01) (Ord. 66‑66, passed 5‑23‑66; Ord. 1996-51, passed 4-22-96; Ord. 2003-81, passed 8-25-2003)

 

 

IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ:

 

§ 159.01  COMPOSITION; QUALIFICATIONS.

one of whom shall be a member of Council

one of whom shall be a person utilizing the Marion Municipal Airport for either private or personal business flying

one of whom shall be a person employed or associated with a fixed base operator at the Marion Municipal Airport

one of whom shall be a member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, or associated with a business

one of whom shall be associated with agriculture and farming

one of whom shall be a person who resides within two miles of Airport

one of whom shall be the President of Central Ohio Soaring Association at Marion Municipal Airport or one of his/her designees

three at large members residing within Marion County, Ohio who are recommended by the Board of Airport Commissioners as having the best interest for promotion and growth of Marion Municipal Airport and City of Marion, Ohio, and appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of Council.

Section 2.        That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
