Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closures for the City of Marion on Monday, September 7th in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

  • All offices in City Hall will be closed.
  • Sanitation crews will not work on Monday, September 7th.  Residents that normally have  Monday  sanitation  service  are  asked  to  have  their  collections  at  curbside  by 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8th.  Sanitation crews will collect both Monday and Tuesday’s refuse on Tuesday, with the possibility that some of Tuesday’s collection could extend into Wednesday.
  • Marion Area Transit buses will not operate on Monday, September 7th.  Normal bus routes will resume on Tuesday, September 8th.
  • Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, September 7th.

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

 

Updates:

Updates: 

According to Parks Superintendent, Mike Cheney, weather permitting, mosquito fogging operations for the City of Marion, which is handled by the Marion City Parks Department, will begin during the week of June 29.  Fogging operations will occur on Thursday or Friday mornings, typically between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00 a.m.  The areas that will be sprayed will rotate based upon mosquito populations, with fogging operations continuing as needed throughout the summer and as weather permits.

City residents with respiratory conditions are advised to keep their windows and doors closed during the above listed hours.

 

Updates: 

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that in observance of the Independence Day holiday, City Departments will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2015.

Please Note:  Due to closures on Friday, City Hall’s weekly early closure day will be observed on Thursday, July 2, 2015.  Therefore, on July 2, most offices in City Hall will close at 3:00 pm.  Municipal Court Offices will close at 2:00 pm and the Utility Billing Office will close at 4:00 pm.

Updates: 

Beginning Thursday, June 25, 2015, the main entrance to the lobby of City Hall will be closed during construction work that will be taking place in front of and near the main entrance to Marion City Hall (233 W. Center St.).  This closure will last for approximately 2 weeks, but is weather permitting and could therefore be extended if necessary.  During the construction process, it will be necessary for the public to enter City Hall through doors at the rear of the building, also referred to as the Police Entrance.

The following notice will appear on all billing statements processed in the months of July and August 2015:

GENERAL REMINDER:  IF YOU HAVE PAST DUE
SANITARY AND STORM SEWER CHARGES THEY WILL BE
ASSESSED ON YOUR 2016 PROPERTY TAXES.  THESE 
CHARGES NEED TO BE PAID IN FULL BY SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2015

                    IF CURRENT, PLEASE DISREGARD.
A PAYMENT PLAN WILL NOT STOP ANY TAX ASSESSMENTS.

Information appearing on monthly statements will serve as notice in lieu of separate letters mailed with identical information.  Affected accounts must be paid by September 1, 2015 to avoid delinquent sanitary sewer and storm sewer charges being certified and forwarded to the Marion County Auditor’s Office for assessment to property tax records.

  • All departments in City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2015.  Offices will re-open for normal business on Tuesday, May 26.
  • Sanitation  crews  will  not  collect  trash,  recycling,  or  yard  waste  on  Monday, May 25, 2015.  Residents who normally have sanitation services on Monday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26.  Crews will collect both Monday and Tuesday’s refuse on Tuesday, with the possibility  that  some  of  Tuesday’s  collection  could  extend  into  Wednesday, May 27.
  • Marion Area Transit will NOT be operating on Monday, May 25, 2015.  Normal hours of operation for bus service will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

Updates: 

The City of Marion is holding a Cinco-de-Mayo sale for Family Memberships to the Lincoln Park Aquatics Center.  This sale will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.  Cost of the Family Membership will be $199.00, with up to 8 people on the membership.  You can purchase the membership at the Safety Directors office on the 3rd floor of City Hall between the hours of 7:30 am - 5:00 pm or at the Marion Airport (1530 Pole Lane Rd) between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Checks, cash, Visa, or MasterCard are accepted forms of payment.

 

Updates: 

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that the City of Marion will sponsor a Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 9, 2015.

Any City of Marion resident, currently on City Sanitation Service, wishing to dispose of unwanted items may do so by taking those items directly to the Marion County Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 1564 Victory Road, (directly east of the Marion Correctional Institute).  Proof of current city sanitation service will be required.

Hours of operation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Yard waste, appliances, tires, regular garbage, or hazardous materials will not be accepted.

Mayor Schertzer reminds City residents that this drop off is free.
