Sanitation/Streets Dept

The Sanitation and Streets Department provides the following vital customer services to Marion residents: weekly garbage and recycling collection, roadway maintenance, snow and ice removal; roadway striping; repairing and replacement of street signs and signals, seasonal collection of yard waste.

Yard Waste Collection

  • The City of Marion handles curbside collection of yard waste during the months of mid-April through early December. 
  • On average, crews collecte approximately 475 tons of yard waste per year, as well as 2,185 cubic yards of leaves.

Snow Removal

  • Street crews use a variety of equipment to remove snow from city streets when needed. 
  • From approximately January through March, the City has its' Streets Department employees split into 3 shifts which helps reduce overtime costs during the winter months.
