Job applications may be obtained from the Human Resources Administrative Assistant on the 3rd floor of City Hall or by downloading the application from the City’s website. 

A City of Marion job application must be completed in full.  Incomplete applications, applications without an original signature (faxes not accepted), or late applications (postmarks not accepted) will not be processed.  A resume will not be accepted in lieu of filing a city application, but one may be attached as additional information.  

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Applications must be received before the deadline listed on the job posting.

Probation Officer

Position Location:  Marion Municipal Court Probation, 233 W. Center St., Marion, OH

Full-Time - $22.75/hour

Individual will be responsible for persons supervised under probation for the municipal court.  Supervision is received from the presiding judge, court clerk and bailiff as well as the Chief Probation Officer.  Counsels adult offenders in activities related to legal conditions of probation or parole by performing the following duties.  If necessary, performs duties of Deputy Bailiff preserving order during Court sessions.

Employee must have Associates Degree in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, or human service/criminal justice related field (A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred).   Individual with certification in the Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS) and certified to carry a firearm by an Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy approved program/instructor is preferred.  A valid Ohio Driver’s License without restrictions and is free from any requirement of High-Risk Liability Insurance is required.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee
     Application for WWTP Operator Trainee

Position Location:  Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1810 Marion Agosta Rd., Marion, OH

Full-Time - $17.87/hour

The individual in this position will be under the immediate supervision of a Plant Operation and will be responsible for learning to operate the equipment in the wastewater treatment plant.  This is a learning or apprenticeship position both assisting and learning from a Plant Operator.  Incumbents have two years from date of hire to obtain a Class I Wastewater Works Operator’s Certificate.  The Operator Trainee must have good math skills, ability to work alone and have willingness to learn wastewater processes. 

Employee is required to have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with no driving restrictions and must be free of any requirement for High-Risk Liability Insurance.  Must be willing to obtain a Class B CDL.

Assistant Water Pollution Control Superintendent

Position Location:  Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1810 Marion Agosta Rd., Marion, OH

Full-Time, Exempt - $43,000-$68,926 based on experience

The individual in this position will be responsible to the Water Pollution Control Superintendent to assist in the direction of the operations of the Wastewater Treatment Facility and Collection System.  Plans, directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the operation and maintenance of the Water Pollution Control Plant to ensure continuous, efficient, and safe operations.  Works independently within a broad policy framework established by the Superintendent.  Applicant with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of three (3) years working experience in the field of wastewater treatment or related waste disposal activities preferred.  Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skill and ability may be considered.  A Class III Wastewater Works Operators Certificate issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is preferred (or must be obtained within 18 months of hire date).

Contingent Van Driver

Position Location:  Marion Senior Center, 2375 Harding Highway E., Marion, OH

Part-Time - $11.56/hour

Responsible for providing safe, timely transportation for elderly clients to and from homes to predetermined destinations, via Senior Center's minibus or van, for the purpose of helping the client to remain independent in their homes.  This is a part-time non-exempt position in which there is no guarantee of a set number of working hours per week.
