Job applications may be obtained from the Human Resources Administrative Assistant on the 3rd floor of City Hall or by downloading the application from the City’s website. 

A City of Marion job application must be completed in full.  Incomplete applications, applications without an original signature (faxes not accepted), or late applications (postmarks not accepted) will not be processed.  A resume will not be accepted in lieu of filing a city application, but one may be attached as additional information.

Position Location:  Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1810 Marion Agosta Rd., Marion, OH

This is a full-time non-exempt position with a pay range of $18.40 - $24.54/hour.

The individual in this position performs manual labor or more than ordinary difficulty which often involves the use of acquired skills, semi-skilled maintenance or construction and operating equipment as needed.  The duties of this job include:  tank cleaning, yard work, painting, and assisting mechanics.  Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Individual is required to follow all City of Marion Safety Rules.

Individual is required to hold a valid Ohio Driver’s License minimum of Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with any endorsements required by law.  Driver’s License must be without restrictions of any privilege to drive at any time and must be free from any requirement of High-Risk Liability Insurance.

Position Location:  Marion City Garage, 981 W. Center St., Marion, OH

This is a full-time non-exempt position with a  starting pay rate of $17.87/hour.

The individual in this position performs manual labor operating equipment on a daily basis; with routine work involving the use of skills acquired by experience or on-the-job instruction.  The work requires heavy manual labor.  The Labor II normally works under direction of a supervisor who issues orders and inspects work frequently and may also receive on-the-job direction by Motor Equipment Operator.  The duties of this job require an individual to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds and mainly include:  gathering and carrying trash containers from individual yards or locations along routes and dumping refuse from containers into the truck; starting hoisting device that raises refuse bin attached to rear of truck; dumping contents into opening of enclosed truck body; assisting in unloading and cleaning garbage truck at dump site.  Individual is required to follow all City of Marion Safety Rules.

Position Location:  Marion City Hall, 233 W. Center St, Marion, OH

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with starting hourly rate of $18.66/hour and tops out at $24.89/hr. upon successful work performance after 15 months

The individual in this position is under the supervision of the Law Director and responsible for the accurate, timely administration and enforcement of the City Zoning Code, including, but not limited to: accepting applications for and issuing permits, ensuring compliance with all Zoning/Compliance/ Obligations contained within the City Code.  These responsibilities are in addition to all other duties assigned by supervisor related to Codes, Regulations or Obligations.  The Inspector shall also ensure that all observations made in the field, which may be violations of the City Health Code, Premises Regulations or other Codified Ordinances or other obligations are addressed by him/her or referred to the appropriate proper enforcement authority for action.

Employee must have Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in a related field of work with 6-months or 1-year experience in Construction and Code Law Enforcement preferred, or any combination of education and experience may be considered.  A valid Ohio Driver’s License without restrictions that is free from any requirement of High-Risk Liability Insurance is required.

Position Location:  Marion Senior Center, 2375 Harding Highway E., Marion, OH

Part-Time - $11.56/hour

Responsible for providing safe, timely transportation for elderly clients to and from homes to predetermined destinations, via Senior Center's minibus or van, for the purpose of helping the client to remain independent in their homes.  This is a part-time non-exempt position in which there is no guarantee of a set number of working hours per week.

Duties of the individuals hired for the Seasonal Labor or High Grass Mower positions include, but not be limited to mowing and weeding City Parks and/or nuisance properties that have been identified by the City, picking up and removing trash from City Parks and/or nuisance properties, and maintaining equipment.

Applicant must be 18 years of age or older and a high school diploma or GED is required.  A valid Ohio Driver’s License without restrictions and is free from any requirement of High-Risk Liability Insurance is required.
