Job applications may be obtained from the Human Resources Administrative Assistant on the 3rd floor of City Hall or by downloading the application from the City’s website. 

A City of Marion job application must be completed in full.  Incomplete applications, applications without an original signature (faxes not accepted), or late applications (postmarks not accepted) will not be processed.  A resume will not be accepted in lieu of filing a city application, but one may be attached as additional information.  

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Applications must be received before the deadline listed on the job posting.

Position Location:  Marion City Police Department, 233 W. Center St, Marion, OH

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting hourly pay rate of $19.65 per hour and tops out at $26.19/hr. upon successful work performance after 15 months.

This individual in this position will be under the supervision of the Police Department and responsible for preparing, analyzing, and disseminating information relevant to actual and anticipated criminal activity.  Individual will maintain systems for storage and retrieval of information, work to promote the exchange of information with various agencies.  Must be able to input information into computer programs for analysis and report generation, make oral presentations to City Council and focus groups, and represent the City and Police Department in the community at various community forums.

Employee must have an Associates Degree and/or two years related experience or training required, as well as good computer skills, as well as good presentation skills.

Account Clerk II (Utility Billing Department)

Position Location:  Utility Billing Department, (City Hall), 233 W. Center St., Marion, OH

This is a full-time position with a starting hourly pay rate of $16.15 per hour.  Upon successful work performance, individuals are awarded a step increase in hourly pay at 90-days (19.01/hr.) and 15-months ($21.51)

The individual in this position will be working with other in the department to handle billing and payment related processes for residents/customers.  The individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, have excellent customer service skills, and good problem-solving skills.  Previous money handling experience and some general account experience preferred.

Zoning/Compliance Inspector

Position Location:  Marion City Hall, 233 W. Center St, Marion, OH

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with starting hourly rate of $18.66/hour and tops out at $24.89/hr. upon successful work performance after 15 months

The individual in this position is under the supervision of the Law Director and responsible for the accurate, timely administration and enforcement of the City Zoning Code, including, but not limited to: accepting applications for and issuing permits, ensuring compliance with all Zoning/Compliance/ Obligations contained within the City Code.  These responsibilities are in addition to all other duties assigned by supervisor related to Codes, Regulations or Obligations.  The Inspector shall also ensure that all observations made in the field, which may be violations of the City Health Code, Premises Regulations or other Codified Ordinances or other obligations are addressed by him/her or referred to the appropriate proper enforcement authority for action.

Employee must have Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in a related field of work with 6-months or 1-year experience in Construction and Code Law Enforcement preferred, or any combination of education and experience may be considered.  A valid Ohio Driver’s License without restrictions that is free from any requirement of High-Risk Liability Insurance is required.

Contingent Van Driver

Position Location:  Marion Senior Center, 2375 Harding Highway E., Marion, OH

Part-Time - $11.56/hour

Responsible for providing safe, timely transportation for elderly clients to and from homes to predetermined destinations, via Senior Center's minibus or van, for the purpose of helping the client to remain independent in their homes.  This is a part-time non-exempt position in which there is no guarantee of a set number of working hours per week.
