A City of Marion job application must be completed in full.  Incomplete applications, applications without an original signature (faxes not accepted), or late applications (postmarks not accepted) will not be processed.  A resume will not be accepted in lieu of filing a city application, but one may be attached as additional information.

Position Location:  Marion Area Transit, 137 S. State St., Marion, OH

Full-Time, Exempt - $39,000-$43,000 based on experience

The individual in this position is responsible to the Transit Administrator for the operation of the Marion Area Transit System in accordance with ODOT and FTA regulations in order to provide passengers with fast, efficient, and safe transportation.  Directs and coordinates activities; reviews and analyzes operations; formulates and presents recommendations for improvements.  Must have excellent customer service skills, prior supervisory experience, good problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and be proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Individual must be at least 21 years old and have 5 years of driving experience with a valid Ohio Drivers License without restrictions of any privilege to drive at any time and is free from any requirement of High-Risk Liability Insurance.  Must obtain and keep a minimum of Class C or higher with passenger endorsement within the first year of employment.

Seasonal 

Individuals hired for Seasonal positions will be responsible for working in the City's Parks and/or on High Grass properties.  Parks duties include but are not limited to:  picking up litter and checking for vandalism; cleaning and maintaining restrooms, shelters, picnic tables, and buildings; and mowing.  High Grass duties include but are not limited to:  mowing; weeding and cleaning nuisance properties; and other duties assigned.  Experience operating a truck and trailer is a plus.  This is a very physical job and frequently requires stooping and picking up trash and tires.

Applicant must be 18 years of age or older and a high school diploma or GED is required.  A valid Ohio Driver’s License without restrictions and is free from any requirement of High-Risk Liability Insurance is required.

Seasonal Aquatics Manager

Position Location:  Lincoln Park Aquatics Center, 879 N. Prospect St., Marion, OH

Seasonal - $9600 Salary for May 1st through September 12th (hours worked prior to May 1st will be paid at $13.00/hr.)

The Aquatics Manager, under supervision of the Parks Superintendent, performs administrative, managerial, semi-skilled function for the city services related to the Aquatics Center operations.  The employee in this position directs various employees including concessions, lifeguards, and maintenance.  Duties of the position include operating and maintaining the City’s Aquatic Center.  This position has concession staff and lifeguards as direct reports.  Follows state laws and regulations, and policies on swimming pool operations.

Individuals hired as seasonal lifeguards and head lifeguards must be 16 years of age or older and will be responsible for protecting swimming areas and observing swimmers to ensure safety; may perform rescue duties as needed, and perform related duties as assigned.

Responsible for providing safe, timely transportation for elderly clients to and from homes to predetermined destinations, via Senior Center's minibus or van, for the purpose of helping the client to remain independent in their homes.  This is a part-time non-exempt position in which there is no guarantee of a set number of working hours per week.

Public Safety Application and Testing Information

Civil Service applications for the City of Marion's Public Safety Departments are currently not being accepted.  When the need for new Civil Service Applications and testing arises, the City will post information on this page.​
