Lincoln Park Aquatic Center is scheduled to remain open on a daily basis through 6:00 pm on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16.  After this date, the aquatic center will ONLY be open, weather and staffing dependent, as follows:

  • Monday, September 4

In accordance with Ordinance No. 2017-06, passed by Marion City Council, January 23, 2017, there will be an Internet Auction held by the City of Marion, Director of Public Safety, 233 W. Center St., Marion, Ohio 43302 on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM for the purchase of a 1971 Oshkosh Articulating Boom Snorkel Fire Truck.

The Snorkel is a 1971 Oshkosh articulating boom Snorkel and was refurbished in 1990 at a cost of $125,000.  This truck passed an Aerial Apparatus test in December 2015. 

Updates: 

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closings and adjusted hours for City Offices during the upcoming Independence Day Holiday week: 

  • Many departments in City Hall will be utilizing vacation hours on Monday, July 3; therefore, residents are highly encouraged to call and ensure the office relevant to their needs will be open.  All offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.
  • Sanitation crews will collect refuse on Monday, July 3.  NO refuse, recycling, or yard waste will be collected on Tuesday, July 4.  Residents who normally have sanitation service on Tuesday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5.  Crews will collect refuse, recycling, and yard waste for both Tuesday and Wednesday on Wednesday, July 5, with the possibility that part of Wednesday’s collection could extend into Thursday, July 6.
  • Marion Area Transit will be open with buses running normal routes on Monday, July 3.  Buses will NOT be running on Tuesday, July 4.   Normal hours of operation for bus service will resume on Wednesday, July 5.
  • Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.  All programs, activities, and transportation will resume on Wednesday, July 5.

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

A public hearing will be held in conjunction with the third reading of Ordinances(s) 2017-31 & 2017-34 which will be held at Marion City Council Meeting on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 7:30 PM, Marion City Hall, 233 W. The sale will take place in the lobby of Marion City Hall.  Pursuant to the adopted Disposition Guidelines those properties shall not sell for less than the fair market value which is defined in said Guidelines as 67% of the Marion County Auditor's true value for the lot value.  Second sales will be at a determined fair market value by competitive bid. No sale will be made to a transferee that has a property which is tax delinquent in Marion County, Ohio or any other Guidline prohibition as is contained within the Residential Land Transfer Policies. The Marion Land Bank was created by an act of City Council in 2008 in order to address the non-productive lands and work to putting these nuisance properties back to productive use for the benefit of Marion’s neighborhoods.

The successful offer will be required to execute the Land Bank Offer to Purchase Agreement on the date of the sale and will be required to pay the successful bid amount in the form of an escrow payment on the same date to the City of Marion, Ohio.  The information contained above and related hereto is believed to be true, but is not a warranty of its accuracy.  Participants are urged to complete their own due diligence and are advised neither the City of Marion, Ohio or its agents make any assurance whatsoever and buyer assumes full and absolute risk associated with the transaction.

Weather Policy
The safety of our patrons is of the utmost importance.  Therefore at the discretion of the Pool Manager, if warranted, the aquatics center will close for weather related issues. 

  • Lightning - In the event of an electrical storm, the pool deck must be cleared and guests will need to exit the facility for at least 30 minutes.  The 30 minute time period will re-start after every lightning strike and/or rumble of thunder.
     
  • Severe Weather - In case of severe weather conditions, the City of Marion Parks and Aquatics Department reserves the right to limit the use or close swimming facilities to ensure the safety of our patrons.
     
  • Cold Weather - If the projected high temperature for the day is below 70 degrees, the City of Marion Parks and Aquatics Department reserves the right to limit the use or close facilities.

Outside Food, Beverages, and Chewing Gum
Outside food, beverages and chewing gum are not permitted inside the aquatics center facility, with the exception of baby food/drinks and water.  A full service concession stand is available for food and drinks. Guests may bring a washable personal water bottle (staff may ask to examine contents).  Guests may exit the Aquatic Center to picnic within Lincoln Park and re-enter with a stamp.  LPAC reserves the right to search one’s property upon entrance to the facility.
