The City of Marion will be fogging mosquitoes on Thursday or Friday mornings from 4 – 7 AM, as needed and as weather permits.  The areas that will be sprayed will rotate based on mosquito populations.

Residents with respiratory conditions are advised to keep doors and windows closed during these hours.

The Utility Billing Department will be closed on Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th.  As at any time this department is closed, payments may be dropped in the mail drop, which is located between the front entrance doors of City Hall.

The department will re-open for regular business on Monday, July 8th at 8:00 am.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closures for the City of Marion on Thursday, July 4, 2013 in observance of the Independence Day holiday:
  • All offices in City Hall will be closed.
  • Sanitation crews will not work on Thursday, July 4, 2013. Residents who normally have Thursday sanitation service are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5. Sanitation crews will collect both Thursday and Friday’s refuse on Friday.

The Marion Senior Center will be hosting their annual “Indoor” Yard Sale on Friday, June 7th The event will be held in the cool comfort of the Marion Senior Center located at 2375 Harding Highway East. The sale is open to the public and will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.  The a la carte menu includes a deli sandwich, salad, dessert and a beverage.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that the City of Marion will sponsor a Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 18, 2013.

Any City of Marion resident, currently on City Sanitation Service, wishing to dispose of unwanted items may do so by taking those items directly to the Marion County Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 1564 Victory Road, (directly east of the Marion Correctional Institute).
