Updates: 

The following closures for the City of Marion are being announced in observance of the Independence Day holiday: 

City Hall
All offices in City Hall will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019.

In addition to being closed on Thursday, many departments will be utilizing vacation time on Friday, July 5 resulting in departmental closures.  For departments that are closed on Friday, early closure will be observed on Wednesday, July 3.  Therefore, residents are highly encouraged to call ahead to ensure the office relevant to their needs will be open.

Sanitation
Sanitation crews will NOT collect refuse, recycling, or yard waste on Thursday, July 4.  Residents who normally have sanitation service on Thursday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5.  Crews are scheduled to collect two days’ worth of refuse, recycling, and yard waste on Friday, July 5.

Transit
Marion Area Transit’s bus service will NOT be in operation on Thursday, July 4 or Friday, July 5.  Normal hours of operation will resume on Monday, July 8.

Senior Center
Marion Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5.  Transportation will be available on Friday, July 5.  All program and activities will resume on Monday, July 8.
 

Necessary services, including fire, police, and airport, will operate as usual.

Any party interested in a property(ies) listed above may submit an offer through sealed bid to the Office of the Safety Director.   The party shall place in a sealed envelope the sum they are willing to purchase the aforementioned lot for and deliver said envelope to the Office of the Safety Director located on the 3rd floor of Marion City Hall at any time.  The envelope must be sealed and contain on the outside in clear legible text the property address for which the bid is made.  The envelope must contain only one (1) bid per envelope.  The enclosed writing shall contain the amount of the bid, the submitter’s printed name, address and contact telephone number.  The highest bidder will be required to execute the City’s purchase contract within 5 days of the receipt of the first received bid.

Updates: 

The Marion City Parks Department is announcing that mosquito fogging operations will begin on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.  These operations will occur on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings between 8 pm – 2 am.  Weekly spraying will continue as needed and as weather permits.  The areas that will be sprayed will rotate based on the mosquito populations.  City residents with respiratory conditions are advised to keep their windows and doors closed during these hours.

 

Updates: 

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that City Departments will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2019 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

  • Departments in City Hall will be closed on May 27, 2019.  Offices will re-open for normal business on Tuesday, May 28.
  • The Sanitation department will not collect trash, recycling, or yard waste on Monday, May 27, 2019.  Residents who normally have sanitation service on Monday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.  Crews will be collecting refuse for both Monday and Tuesday throughout the day on Tuesday, May 28, with the possibility that part of Tuesday’s collection could extend into Wednesday, May 29.
  • Marion Area Transit will NOT operate on Monday, May 27, 2019.  Normal hours of operation for bus service will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
  • Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2019.  All programs, activities, and transportation will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
