Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing that City Departments will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2019 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

  • Departments in City Hall will be closed on May 27, 2019.  Offices will re-open for normal business on Tuesday, May 28.
  • The Sanitation department will not collect trash, recycling, or yard waste on Monday, May 27, 2019.  Residents who normally have sanitation service on Monday are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.  Crews will be collecting refuse for both Monday and Tuesday throughout the day on Tuesday, May 28, with the possibility that part of Tuesday’s collection could extend into Wednesday, May 29.
  • Marion Area Transit will NOT operate on Monday, May 27, 2019.  Normal hours of operation for bus service will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
  • Marion Senior Center will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2019.  All programs, activities, and transportation will resume on Tuesday, May 28.

Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

Mayor  Scott  Schertzer  is  announcing  that  the  City  of  Marion  will  sponsor  a  Community  Clean-Up  Day  on  Saturday, May 18, 2019.

Any City of Marion resident, currently on City Sanitation Service, wishing to dispose of unwanted items may do so by taking those items directly to the Marion County Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 1564 Victory Road, (directly east of the Marion Correctional Institute).  Proof of current city sanitation service will be required.

Hours of operation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Please note:  YARD WASTE, APPLIANCES, TIRES, REGULAR GARBAGE, OR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THIS LOCATION.

Mayor Schertzer reminds City residents that this drop off is free.

Updates: 

Offices located in City Hall will be closed on Friday, April 19, 2019 in observance of the Good Friday holiday.

PLEASE NOTE:  As a result of offices being closed on Friday, the weekly early closure day for most offices in City Hall will be observed on Thursday, April 18.  Offices will be observing their Friday business hours on this day, with notable early closures being the Municipal Court, and Utility Billing offices closing at 2:00 p.m.

The following departments will operate as noted below on Friday, April 19:

On Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. the City of Marion will conduct a meeting in the conference room at Marion Municipal Airport, 1530 Pole Lane Road, Marion, OH 43302. The meeting will be open to the public for the purpose of soliciting consultation with minority, women’s, and general contractor groups, community organizations, and other officials or organizations which could be expected to have information concerning the availability of disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged businesses, the effects of discrimination on opportunities for DBEs, and the City of Marion’s efforts to establish a level playing field for the participation of DBEs in construction contracts awarded for work at Marion Municipal Airport. Updates: 

Our newly refurbished Fitness Center is open to members at no additional cost, and boasts a variety of Schwinn® fitness equipment, including treadmills, traditional and recumbent exercise bikes, Airdyne, and elliptical machines, along with resistance training equipment for upper body and lower body strength and conditioning. The Fitness Center is typically open to members anytime the Center is open. Please consult your physician before beginning any exercise activities.

 

The Marion Senior Center distributes free produce on behalf of Beacon of Hope Food Pantry, two days each month. Please check with the folks at the Volunteer Greeters Desk by the front entrance for exact dates/times. 

 

An amazing group of talented local musicians and vocalists meet and perform at the Center on the last Wednesday of each month. Lunch is available for $3.50 and is served at noon. Music is performed from 1 to 3 pm. Public welcome!

 

If you, or someone you know age 60 and older, are seeking transportation for needs-based appointments, the Marion Senior Center is here to help. We provide transportation (on a donation basis) to and from appointments in Marion County. Transportation is available every Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am & 3:30 pm, excluding holidays.
